Extractor fan installation & replacement
The right fan, in the right place, with a route for the air to leave.
Discuss your projectA noisy, unreliable or ineffective extractor fan can be frustrating. We help with new fans and replacements in bathrooms, shower rooms, toilets, utility rooms and kitchens, considering the room, existing wiring and how air will be discharged outside.
Experience that makes a difference
The fan is one part of the ventilation arrangement. A replacement needs to suit the duct route and controls as well as the opening it fits into. For a new installation, we establish the electrical work, access and any building work required before agreeing the scope.
Replacement fan or a new installation?
For a replacement, tell us where the existing fan is fitted, how it is switched and what is wrong with it. We assess the electrical connection, controls, ducting and external termination rather than choose a replacement from the front cover alone.
A new fan needs a suitable route for air to leave the building as well as power. Wall, ceiling and loft access can affect the choice and installation. If making an opening or other building work is needed, we establish who is responsible for it in the quotation.
Choose the fan for the whole ventilation route
A short wall route and a longer duct run can need different solutions. We consider the room, duct route, available air supply, controls and access for maintenance when discussing the installation. Timer and humidity controls may be useful, depending on how the space is used.
An extractor fan can support ventilation, but condensation can have several causes. We do not promise that replacing a fan alone will resolve every damp or moisture problem. We explain the electrical work and when advice on the wider building or ventilation system is needed.
Before we get started
Your questions,
answered.
Can you replace a noisy or failed bathroom extractor fan?
Yes. We can investigate the existing fan and discuss a suitable replacement. The cause of noise or poor extraction may involve the fan, controls or duct route, so those details matter when choosing the work.
Can a new fan be connected to the bathroom light switch?
That may be an option, as may timer or humidity-based operation. The existing wiring, fan location and chosen product determine what is suitable. We assess the arrangement before confirming the controls and connection.
Do you fit kitchen extractor fans and cooker hoods?
We can assess kitchen room-extraction fans and their electrical installation. If you mean a cooker hood, commercial kitchen extraction or a wider ventilation system, tell us the equipment and scope first so we can confirm which parts we can undertake.
